Laser engraving on RAL colour: brushed stainless steel instead of applied lettering
On selected ELEGANCE plaques the lettering is not created with an applied foil. The plaque is manufactured from stainless steel and powder-coated in the desired RAL colour. A laser then removes the coating precisely where the name, house number or text should appear.
This reveals the underlying brushed stainless steel. The transition between the matt colour coating and the metallic brushed surface creates a clear, high-quality contrast — subtle enough for modern architecture while remaining easily legible.
Why stainless steel engraving convinces in everyday use
Dust, pollen and weathering accumulate especially at the entrance. Lettering without additional applied letters or foils can be incorporated easily into regular surface cleaning. Always observe the care instructions for the specific powder coating and stainless steel when cleaning.
Visually, the technique shows its strength particularly with dark RAL colours: the brushed stainless steel reflects light differently from the coated surface. This creates a subtle material contrast that highlights names and house numbers without looking like an attached sign.

Not every entrance can be sensibly solved with a standard plaque. If the format, layout, lettering or finish should differ from the existing range, we manufacture bespoke plaques on request.
Helpful information includes the desired external dimensions, lettering, location, preferred colour and — if available — a sketch or photo of the installation. We will then check which variant is technically feasible and how the plaque can be integrated visually into the existing entrance.
Especially when combined with mailbox, doorbell, house number or an existing RAL colour, a project-specific solution can appear more coherent than several individually chosen separate parts.

What is special about the BML stainless steel engraving?
On selected powder-coated ELEGANCE plaques the colour coating is selectively removed by laser where the lettering is to appear. This reveals the underlying brushed stainless steel. The contrast therefore arises directly from the coating and the material.
Is the laser engraving on a stainless steel plaque easy to maintain?
Yes. This version does not have additional lettering foil applied to the surface. The lettering remains integrated into the existing surface and can be cleaned as part of the normal maintenance of the plaque. Please observe the care instructions for stainless steel and the powder coating.
What is the difference between laser engraving and LaserCut?
With the ELEGANCE laser engraving the powder coating is removed and the brushed stainless steel becomes visible. LaserCut versions work with laser-cut or punched design elements and create a noticeably more tactile effect depending on the model.
Are there nameplates for existing mailboxes?
Yes. The range includes compact and self-adhesive stainless steel nameplates, among others. For specific replacement and changeable plates, the dimensions and compatibility with the existing mailbox should be checked.
Can I order a plaque to match the colour of my mailbox?
Many plaques are available in RAL colours and can therefore be coordinated with the mailbox, doorbell or façade. The colours available for a specific model are shown in the product configuration.
